This time I tried to tell more of a story through my pictures and have them all connect. So here I showed my husband getting up and ready for the day: The monochromatic picture is him getting out of the shower, the analogous picture is him picking which shirt he should wear, and the complimentary picture is him eating a bowl of cereal (in the same shirt he picked out). What I liked about these photos was how my husband's left hand (with his wedding ring on) was in every picture, which gave them all a theme in a way. Also, I liked trying to figure out different ways to use color.

Assignment #4 - Motion and Depth of Field

Here, I photographed a clock and a few players in a flag football game. These images worked with a slow shutter speed because although I could have made these objects appear still, it was more interesting for me to photograph and show the way they moved.

Fast

Here, I photographed a boy practicing lacrosse and a water pipe. These images worked with a fast shutter speed because these were objects that just couldn't seem to stop moving. However, it seemed as though every time I would try to take a photo of either of them, it would just turn out blurry. I made it a goal to try and learn how to use my camera correctly in order to get them in the action. Although some parts of the image are still blurry I enjoyed learning how to get a better picture using a faster shutter speed with my camera.

I learned that my camera isn't always right. I never really thought about exposure before this assignment and would simply trust that my camera knew what it was doing. I won't make that mistake again. However, having to think about the exposure helped me to figure out how I could make my pictures even better. Also, I found that my camera tends to underexpose my high key images, while overexposing my low key images. This just emphasized to me the importance of lighting and how it can make or break a picture. As for the subjects of my pictures, I liked trying to find objects I use all of the time or only once in a while that I normally don't think twice about and finding something unique about them. All in all, I enjoyed discovering the wonders of Lightroom as well as having to just go with my gut and move on.
